12 March – The core model – get a kick-start on prototyping
Are and Mona
The core model is first and foremost a practical working tool that gives a rapid insight into and overview of the intended webpage or application. The model turns traditional thinking upside down. We do not assume that informational structures and data models are the most important factors. Instead, we design the most important pages first. This method is suited to both redesign and new development.
• Learn to identify the most important pages on your website
• Find the optimal access routes, through, for example, searching and menus
• Build in support for business objectives and social factors
This course is open to everyone
8 April – Usability for developers
Thor and Mona
This is a tailor-made course for developers and others with a technical background looking for a fast introduction to usability. During the course you will learn simple techniques and rules of thumb that you can follow during your development work.
The course includes the following:
• Form design – how to create effective forms
• Error messages for normal users
• Learn methods that allow you to create a complete, usability tested system in three days
• Effective navigation systems – is the left hand menu always the answer?
• Don’t listen to your users – avoid feature creep by interpreting your users correctly
This course has been specially designed for web programmers and application developers.
9 April – From overall strategy to specific design
Eidar, Martin and Laura
How can you ensure that the changes you make to your website improve the user experience? How can you achieve the effect you’re looking for? In this course, we will guide you through a strategic design process, where being familiar with your users’ objectives is key. You will be given specific instruction on how you should work to achieve your goals in the design process:
• Strategic goals – how do you translate these into user friendly design
• How do you plan a redesign process – what do you do first and what do you do last?
• Make your goals measurable – track the impact of what you have done
• Learn how to document user needs and use them to succeed
This course is open to everyone.
