User-centred design

Using our own model (called the "BRUK model" in Norwegian) we help our clients reach their objectives, whether that involves developing clear informative websites or large, complex web applications. We work on everything from straightforward websites with standard navigations to cutting-edge AJAX and Web 2.0 solutions.

We don’t just consider your strategy and we don’t just focus on what’s most user friendly. Our consultants have usability running through their veins and will do whatever it takes to help you reach your goals. Users’ work tasks can always be solved – and if we disagree with you on the way, we won’t be afraid to ask challenging questions.

Inspirations for our model include:

Jesse James Garrett "Elements of User Experience"
Classic user-oriented development models
ISO 13407 - Human centred design processes for interactive systems

Added to these, of course, is our own experience from over 80 development projects.

The most important properties of our model are:

• Graphic design comes late on in the process
• To explore all potential solutions, several concepts are worked on
• We produce a detailed prototype that is improved using an iterative process

Activity plan for user-centred design

Strategy

We help you find out what your interactive system should do for you and your company. What should you prioritise? What’s not so important? What specific goals should we set together and how will we measure whether these are achieved?

User requirements

We identify the target group’s needs and the tasks that they visit your website to solve. We do this with user profiles (Personas), interviews, observation or questionnaires – depending on what’s appropriate.

Concept development

To explore all potential solutions, we come up with several concepts to support your strategy and user needs. These are mapped out on paper.

Information architecture

We develop a task-oriented content structure.

Interaction design

We create the flow in the system – menus, buttons, page structure etc.

Prototyping

Based on the background information, we develop a prototype that presents the concept, information architecture and interaction design.
