Information architecture
How would you classify a banana, a potato, an orange and a carrot? As either fruit or vegetables, or by shape?
Information architecture is about organising content so that it is easy to find. The work involves choosing sensible categories and deciding how to classify your content. The challenge is which taxonomy should be used - whether items should be classified by subject, company department, target group, alphabetically etc.
Depending on the system being developed, there are a number of different methods you can make use of when working with information architecture.
